Eckert Biopsy Bags

The biopsy bags are ideal for use when processing small biopsies. They provide high fluid exchange and tissue safety during preservation and fixation.

The fixative solution and specimen can be poured into the bag, which then filters the fixative and leaves the biopsies inside. The bag is then sealed, placed in a biopsy cassette and processed as usual.

After processing, the bag can be pulled out and opened so that the sample can be collected. The high quality biopsy bags reduce the risk of losing small samples during tissue processing and provide excellent fluid exchange.

The material and mesh size of the bags allow easy opening during processing.

About biopsies

A biopsy is a medical procedure in which a small sample of body tissue is removed so that it can be examined under a microscope.

A tissue sample can be taken from almost anywhere on or in your body, including the skin, organs, and other structures.

The term biopsy is often used to refer to both the collection of the sample and the tissue sample itself.

Why are biopsies taken?

A biopsy can be used to investigate abnormalities:

  • functional such as kidney or liver problems
  • Structural such as swelling in a particular organ

When the tissue sample is examined under a microscope, abnormal cells can be identified to help diagnose a particular condition.
